Check to make sure you are on the latest version. I believe that was a common bug in 1.13, so made a quick fix with 1.14. If you are in 1.14, then we got ourselves a bug.

The game doesn't tell you what energy is for. I have a reactor, a battery, and a tech to boost energy generation, but nothing seems to need energy?
You cannot see the stats for items when picking loot after a battle. This is bad because there are so many land types and some are outright worse than others (heavier for the same or less HP.)
As others have said, Floatrons just seem to be too rare. The shop is something of an answer, but you pay more than just money in using the shop. You also give up the chance to go to another location that would have given you additional free loot (which might have been some valuable non-floatron items.) Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad trade if you could sell your unwanted items in the shop, though that might end up devaluing the forge..
The most common thing I have heard about the patch is that floatrons are too rare and that firepower units are also hard to come by. From a game design perspective, I would agree. It doesn't make sense that the two items that enable you to progress further are given to you by luck of the die.
Therefore, I am working on putting a little more consistency in this next update. Floatrons will always be sold at shops(at least one). That should make going to shops very worthwhile if you need some floatrons. It might be a little out of the way sometimes, but at least you will know its there.
As for firepower units, the basic ones will be a consistent drop from enemy bosses.
With regards to energy, it seems you have gotten your hands on everything to make it, but nothing to use it. It's usually the other way around for me. But anyways, you will later get some energy weapons that will require energy in battle.
Viewing the stats of items would be a good addition. It won't be an immediate feature addition, but it will make it into the game eventually.

Oh. You are absolutely correct. I didn't actually realise that you could put more than 9 different types of weapons. Thanks for that. That really helped a whole lot!
Hey man! This seems to be a recurring issue that I am actively trying to fix. Firepower Units (Tech) can increase your maximum weapons, but these are a random drop. The solution I am have in mind is to make tech persistent throughout your different games. That probably won't be an immediate fix though. I'm going to try to play with the forge and store first to balance things.

You can! Each weapon can be reassigned using the 1-9 keys. Press them over the weapon while building. You can group the same type of weapons together for now. I'm planning on changing that so you can mix and match in the future, but for now you have to stick with the same weapon type.
I believe that adding a weapon cap was honestly the most detrimental thing you could've done. I watched someone play this game on youtube and it looked like a very fun game where I could expand my "ship" and get stronger. He played before weapon caps, and even he was struggling against the AI. My first play through I was lucky enough to get extra floatrons (I didn't realize how lucky I was. My second playthough is unplayable because I only have one and I am so immobile and small that anything is more powerful than me) However, on my first playthrough through the first wormhole I got to a normal enemy that had 6 shield, twice my size, and much stronger blocks. My weapons couldn't get through the shield let alone defend myself against an onslaught of the opponents weapons. I died on this level three times in a row because every enemy was far stronger than me through no fault of my own. I couldn't get more blocks, more weapons, or more defense. Remove the weapon cap. It's the only way for islands to fare against these random enemies.
I was heavily considering paying money for this game, since it looked like a flawless early iteration when I watched it on youtube. However, to download the game and immediately be hard caped on every single aspect I'd want to focus on, there's no enjoyment and I'm extremely disappointed :(
I see what he was going for when he added the weapon cap, but I agree it made the game MUCH harder. Maybe he could add difficulties with normal being no weapon cap, easy with no weapon cap and boosted stats for you, hard with weapon cap, and insane with weapon cap and boosted enemy stats. Thats my opinion, though im no game developer.
Hey, i have started playing today and i think that the weapon cap adds a lot more to it and makes it more of a challenge making it more rewarding as you win. I usually never die from the bosses as long as i try and dodge his attacks and use mine strategically. Also make sure to look around the map too see the best route for the most loot to proceed with ease.

With the floatrons, I am working on balancing it out. I have heard a lot of people saying that they don't have enough so I'm planning a couple of fixes to them so that you will see them more. Firstly, I'm thinking of always putting them in the shop. Secondly, I'm just increasing the chance of getting them. I think that with both of these put together, you will have an easier time getting them.
The weapon cap is something that many people have mixed feelings about. For one, I think that there should be more than one way of defeating an enemy. For example, just firing everything you've got at them one, but I don't want it to be the only way. I'm also still constantly tweaking enemy generation to make them better(easier but less bad).

Hey man! v1.11 had a ton of issues with enemies. Fortunately, I have released v1.12 within the past hour. Your progress should still save through the update. You will have to re download the game to get the update.
This game looks really awesome but could you add a digital signature so Mac users don't have to put in that code in terminal because that causes the computer to be more vulnerable to viruses.
I just tried adding a digital signature and code signing it, but then when I tried to simulate a download with all my settings like a normal person would have, the game broke. I will certainly be looking into this more in the future as the game progresses.
This game is still awesome, but I cannot pass the first enemy on world 2. I cant get more floatrons because shops dont have it in my playthrough idk why and the first enemy had 4 dual mortars while I only had a small shield and a couple tertecions. I died. Horribly. Please fix so that you dont get end world enemies at the beginning of the world. maybe a more incremental system?
So sorry about that. I have been working to fix all the bugs introduced with the last update. This one especially. The new update (v1.11) is now live that fixes all these types of bugs.

You can try the shops. They might have some extra floatrons. I would agree that the floatron balance is a little bit off. Theres gonna be a small minor patch dropping fairly soon to fix all the bugs this update created.

I found a bug where if you close the window after getting defeated and then you reopen the game, it will say you won or put you back to where you were when you click on continue.
Oh dear! Are you sure it hasn't set you back to your last spot? When do you close the game? Right now, there isn't really a prevention against people trying to cheat the saving system.
From what you said, I think that the reset thing isn't as much of a bug as it is a limitation of the sytems programming. I'm also pretty sure the part where I said that I closed at the right time after getting defeated and then going back and it showing as a win is false, I have a pretty bad memory so it could.ve just been me being an idiot and imagining things.
Thanks for pointing out possible bug though. I will do a thorough test of quitting the game to make sure this bug doesn't surface when I create a system to prevent abusing the save. The game thinks my pointer is in a spot it is not and its always minimized, i cant even edit my island or exit some battles without spamming till it works, fix that, i tryed to leave a show and i had to escape back to the home starting page restarting all my progress, its pissin me off.
I think the problem with the pointer is that the game starts in fullscreen. I will have that fixed in the next update. A save feature is also coming out in the next update as well.
The music in this game are original soundtracks I composed. The battle music is simple called IIslands of War Battle Theme, but you won't find it on spotify or YouTube if thats what you were wondering.
also you should make a feture so that if you cant beat the final boss you can go back and earn more weapons instead of sending you all the way to the begining or mabye putting a shop infront of the boss that sells good weapons and materials.
WOAH Man! Congrats on that major accomplishment. Unfortunately, there is nothing yet that happens.The boss is meant to utterly kill you until I could generate the ending. BUT, you have my huge respects! I haven't yet gotten there!
This is a great game! I think given some time and effort this could be the highest ranking free game on Itch! I would like to reccomend an Endless mode and the ability to make a home base or something that generates money and/or resources to get more things for your war Island. Other than that, this game is AWESOME!

Also I got another thought, since flares are really usefull but never get used because your too busy mashing the other 8 buttons, maybe you should have the flares and gustin automatically fire at incoming bullets.
That was absolutely great! Your game is a complete success in two ways: 1.) It's hard to develop a well-functioning, balanced strategy game in the short span of a game jam, and hey, you did that! 2.) The amount of content is just mind-boggling, and it does not even feel like a totally random addition, but actually designed so that the players can develop new tactics based on the loot. I hope you will polish up and extend this little gem a bit more, because it really has great potential. :) As an old "FTL" fanatic, I have to know. :D I recommended your game in an article on our blog and also uploaded a gameplay video where people can watch different 'stations' of the game. I hope that the compilation is reasonably well done and that the development of the game over time becomes clear. :) Wonderful work, keep it up!

Congrats on getting to the ridiculously overpowered final boss that always kills you. I myself have never made it there, nor have defeated it(because its super op).
Anyways, my excitement for developing this game further is only increasing further. I am definitely going to be working on this game for quite some time. One of the first things I'm doing is to try to make the game more tactical and feel less spammy.

is there a bug with forge or am i stupid.. i put in three items of the same rarity and it wont let me forge them?
now it worked but on a different station is there another requirement? i had enough gold
You need to have a valid island in order to forge. I should make that more explicit.

Try clicking in the game to skip the cutscene.

Because he didnt make an ending yet, the end boss is meant to be unkillable. The other guy here just got really lucky.

Anyways, my excitement for developing this game further is only increasing further. I am definitely going to be working on this game for quite some time. One of the first things I'm doing is to try to make the game more tactical and feel less spammy.
